How-to Guide: Generating Bill.com API token

This guide explains how to get an API token from Bill.com so you can connect it to Ledge and import your Spend & Expense transaction data.

What you need

  • A Bill.comarrow-up-right account (Spend & Expense)

  • Admin access in Bill.com — only admins can create API tokens. If you’re not an admin, ask your Bill.com administrator to create the token for you or to give you admin rights.

Generate an API token in Bill.com

  1. Open your Spend & Expense profile settings — click the Profile icon (top right) and choose Profile, or use My account in the left menu.

  2. Open the Settings tab.

  3. Find the API tokens section and select Generate new token.

  4. (Optional) Add a name or description for the token (e.g. “Ledge”).

  5. Select Generate Token. The token appears in the New token field.

  6. Select Copy token and store it somewhere safe (e.g. a password manager). You’ll paste it into Ledge in the next section.

Important: The token is only shown once. If you close the window before copying it, you’ll need to generate a new token.
