# Flux Analysis

Ledge's flux analysis agents automatically identify variances across your financial statements, generate explanations, and surface root causes — all before the close even begins.

#### Navigating the Flux Analysis page

From the left-hand navigation menu, click **Flux Analysis**.

The table shows all accounts across your financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and others), with the following columns:

* **Account**
* **Previous period balance**
* **Current period balance**
* **Variance** (by amount and percentage)
* **AI-generated explanation** (when available)
* **Folder**
* **Preparer** and **reviewer**
* **Status** (Done, Open, or **Awaiting Review** — indicating the agent has completed its analysis)

#### Adjusting the view

* **Period comparison:** Switch between month-over-month, quarter-over-quarter, and other period comparisons.
* **Statement type:** Group by income statement, balance sheet, or any other financial statement.

#### Filtering

Add filters to focus on what matters most:

* **Account** or **account type**
* **Variance threshold** (preconfigured or custom)
* **Variance by amount or percentage** (e.g., filter for variance percentage less than 100%)
* **Entity**
* **Status** (e.g., show only tasks awaiting review)

#### Reviewing an agent's analysis

1. Click on any task with status **Awaiting Review** to open the task drawer. You'll see a pre-populated variance explanation.
2. Click **Agent Studio** to go deeper. On the right-hand side, the agent's full working paper is displayed, showing the raw data for both periods.

#### What's inside the working paper

The agent analyzes variance using multiple drivers simultaneously:

* **Vendor-level detail** — which specific vendors drove the change
* **Category-level detail** — which spending categories changed

The working paper includes:

* A **waterfall view** showing how the balance moved from last month to this month
* **Individual analyses** for each specific variance driver
* On the left-hand side, a **summary** of the overall results, including:
  * The distinct service lines or drivers identified
  * A **root cause analysis**
  * A **6-month spending trend**
  * **Recommended next steps** (e.g., deeper investigation into a specific vendor, analysis of additional subsidiaries)

#### Automated scheduling and notifications

Flux analysis agents run on a preconfigured schedule and deliver completed explanations before the close starts. You are notified automatically via Slack (or another connected communication tool) when an agent's analysis is complete and ready for review.
